Frequently Asked Questions
Eyebrow Microblading
Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique used for the eyebrows. Tiny hair-like strokes are made while pigment is deposited into the epidermal layer of the skin. Microblading can be used on someone with little to no eyebrows by creating an illusion of a more defined and fuller brow. People who have full brows are also great candidates if they are looking for a low maintenance styled brow.
Powdered Shading may be an add on to microblading or a stand alone service. It is a semi-permanent makeup technique designed to create eyebrows with a soft powder effect, very similar to powder makeup.
What is the difference? Microblading = hair strokes, Powder Shading = Makeup appeal. Both are semi-permanent techniques designed to last between one and three years. Both services may be combined or singled out.
Unfortunately, not everyone is a candidate for permanent makeup. We want each of our clients to get the absolute best results possible, and not every skin type accommodates that. The following list disqualifies you from currently receiving permanent makeup.
You are not a candidate if you...
- Received Botox/Dyport within 14 days of your scheduled appt
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Currently using or have been on Accutane within the last 12 months
- Have a freshly tanned/sunburned face
- Rosacea
- Are taking blood thinning medications
- Are currently undergoing treatment for cancer
- Chemotherapy or Radiation treatment within the last 12 months
- All clients must be at least 18 years old
Preparing for your appointment is just as important for good healed results as post care. Failure to follow pre-care may result in being sent home the day of your appointment, so please read the following carefully! Coming in prepared to your appointments means better healed results and a better overall experience.
2 WEEKS BEFORE:
- BOTOX: If you regularly get Botox or Dysport, it must be done at least 14 days prior to your appointment. Receiving it within the 14 days of your appointment will result in being sent home and asked to reschedule.
- WAXING/THREADING: It is recommended to come to your appointment with your brows grown out, no need to have them cleaned up before. It is helpful to see how the brows naturally grow. Our artists clean them up during the appointment. If you need to clean them beforehand, please do so at least 2 weeks before appointment. If you TINT your brows, do so at least 7 days prior.
- RETIN-A/RETINOL: Please refrain from using any Retin-a products in the brow area for 2 weeks leading up to your appointment.
24 HOURS BEFORE:
- To minimize bleeding during the procedure, please avoid any alcohol and excessive caffeine. Blood thinning medications such as Ibuprofen and Advil should be avoided unless prescribed by a doctor.
DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:
- Wash your hair! You won't be able to get your brows wet for the next 10-14 days, so wash your hair beforehand to give yourself a few extra days before your next wash!
- Avoid exercise. Exercising increases blood flow and will cause excessive bleeding, leading to poor healed results.
- Makeup: You are welcome to come to your appointment with or without makeup on. We will be taking lots of photos, so come however you are most comfortable. If you regularly fill in your brows, coming with at least your brows filled in helps us see your regular shape.
- Bring your brow makeup. If you have a specific product you love, bring it along!
- Relax! Feeling nervous is normal. We are going to work together to create your dream brows!
Immediately after getting your brows done, you may experience minor redness or swelling around the treated area, which typically goes away within 24 hours. Over the next few hours, the pigment in the skin will oxidize, making the brows look darker and warmer (red) than they were initially. This is normal and expected. Pigment typically fades anywhere from 20-40% once fully healed.
Around day 3-4, you may notice light scabbing and flaking on the treated area. This is normal! Please refrain from picking at the brows. Doing so will result in loss of pigment in those areas and can cause scarring. Brows may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished healing. Once all the flaking is complete (usually around day 10), the brows will appear much lighter. The pigment will darken over the next 4-6 weeks and the pigment will return to the skin in its healed color.
At 4-6 weeks, your brows will be fully healed. Whatever pigment that does not return will be addressed at your touch up appointment. At this appointment, we will examine your retention, touch up the spots that didn't stick, and adjust the pigment color to give you the perfect brows. Once the brows have healed after your touch up appointment, you will have beautiful, full brows for 12-36 months!
- Oily Skin: Increased oil production can cause hair strokes to blur and fade very quickly. Pigment may have the possibility of not sticking at all. If you have combination or oily skin, your are a candidate for a combination or powder brows, but not for microblading.
- Sun Exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading. We recommend purchasing our SPF Protection for $17 to protect your healed brows from the sun.
- Excessive Bleeding: Excessive bleeding during your procedure will greatly affect how your body retains pigment. Pinpoint bleeding throughout the procedure is normal, but excessive bleeding causes pigment to fade quickly and heal ashy. While bleeding is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow before and aftercare instructions to help minimize bleeding.
- Improper Pre and Post Care: Not following the given pre and post care instructions will greatly diminish your healed results. Follow all instructions exactly for the best results!
Permanent makeup is designed to fade over time, but is still considered a tattoo. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color affect the longevity of the tattoo. The sun and specific types of lighting (tanning beds) will affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down. Following the given aftercare instructions along with the touch up, is critical to receive your best healed results. Touch-Ups are normal and expected for permanent cosmetics. Picking the proper service for you skin type and following the proper aftercare will lead to beautiful results for years to come!
* Please note that final results vary and CANNOT be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals. A follow-up appointment is always recommended 6-12 weeks after your initial session.
Following the given aftercare is crucial to obtain the best results! All clients are expected to follow the following instructions exactly to get the best healed results. All products needed for your aftercare will be provided to you at your appointment.
- Keep your new brows dry until ALL flaking has stopped. This means keeping them dry in the shower and avoid sweating, saunas, and steam for the next 10-14 days. No working out until all flaking has finished.
- Cleanse morning and night for 10 days with the provided cleanser.
- Apply a thin layer of aftercare balm to the brows 2-3x a day for 10 days.
- No makeup on the brows for 14 days. You may wear makeup around the brows, but leave at least one inch around them at all times to prevent infection.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks. Please plan vacations and outing accordingly to avoid as much sun as possible. It is recommended to purchase our SPF lotion for sunny days after the 2 week healing period.
- Do not touch, pick, rub, or scratch the brows. Do not pick the scabs or flakes, as they come off this will remove the pigment and lead to patchiness and scarring.
- No anti-aging or acne products on the brows ever (anything with Retinol, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, etc.)
It is highly recommended to come in for your free 6-12 week touch up after the initial appointment, due to pigment fade/correction.
After the final touch up has healed, if you still do not like the results, we offer a Saline Solution Removal. This process may take between 3-6 appointments for the pigment to be completely removed. Each appointment is an hour long and must be done within 6-12 weeks of each other. We sell this service in a package of three for a discounted rate.
We also offer an emergency removal. This must be done within 24 hours of the microblading appointment.
Please feel free to schedule a free 15 minute phone call or face to face consult with one of our specialists. They are happy to address any and all questions!
Eyelash Extensions
Lash Extensions are semi-permanent cosmetic applications that enhance the length, curl, fullness, and thickness of the natural eyelashes. Designed to make the morning routine easier, and faster while always having the "makeup" or dark, natural appeal. They are made of synthetic, faux mink, and silk fibers which are applied one lash per natural lash, or a fan of lashes per natural lash.
After your initial set, you can maintain your look with a fill approximately every two to three weeks. A fill is a shorter appointment time where the stylist will replace any eyelashes that have fallen or grown out as part of the normal shedding cycle. We offer three fill options for restoring your look based on guidelines of recommended time between appointments. These options differ only in the amount of time your stylist will spend with you.
Eyelash extensions are perfectly safe when properly applied by a licensed and trained stylist who uses quality products. The adhesive we use is formulated to create a polypeptide bond, designed specifically for human lashes. We are vigilant about knowing and practicing the latest health and safety recommendations regarding extensions. Because we are working near the eyes, we take safety and sanitation practices very seriously.
Anyone and everyone over the age of 16 may receive eyelash extensions. Any minor over the age of 16 will require parental consent. If you are a minor and wish to have eyelash extensions, be sure to bring a legal guardian to your first appointment.
At Lashed, our artists consider the natural health of each individual lash. With that in mind, if your natural lashes are very fine and short, you will never achieve the thickness and length of someone with strong and thick lashes. But we will be able to give the appeal of much thicker and longer lashes than your real lashes depending on the service you have chosen to go with - Classic, Hybrid, Volume, Mega.
- Avoid getting them wet for 6-8 hours after application. Some artists recommend 24 hours, due to the different product they may use.
- Do not rub or touch your eyes. As your skin has natural oils which will break down the retention of the glue.
- Clean with eyelash foam cleanser every 3 days.
- Brush through your eyelash tips every morning, or as needed.
- Do not use oil based products around or on the eyes.
- Do not sleep on your face. We sell eyelash sleeping masks for people who tend to sleep on their side or face.
- Continue will lash fills every 2 to 3 weeks.
Using a soft bristle brush and designated eyelash extensions cleaning foam, clean every 3 days. Shake up & create a foamy consistency then squirt onto lashes. Brush parallel with the lashes, in consideration to not hurt them. Rinse well with water afterwards. Brush dry, dab with a paper towel, or hold a fan (with no heat) to the lashes. Brush out to straighten the lashes afterwards.
Getting into this habit removes traces of natural oils, dust and make-up. This prevents any build-ups causing pressure on your lashes and breaking down the bond. Ultimately, you need to clean, clean, clean to avoid premature lash shedding.
Eyelash Lift and Tint
This beauty treatment reshapes your eyelashes using the a similar type of chemical for a hair perm, making your straight lashes curl more noticeably upward. Using the highest quality lamination products our perms not only curl, but also restore, strengthen, and shine the natural lashes using an advanced formula containing nourishing and conditioning ingredients.
If you'd like to darken your natural lashes, this is a great option.
At Lashed, we offer two different types of Lash Lift methods.
One of our Lash Lifts methods, "profusion", uses an advanced formula containing nourishing and conditioning ingredients that not only curl, but also restore, strengthen and shine the natural lashes.
Our second method is used for clients with very strong, and thick lashes that have a harder time curling. This one does not contain the nourishing ingredients like our "profusion" does but tends to give a stronger, more durable result for the stubborn lashes that don't want to curl. All of our stylist at Lashed have been trained and educated as to not cause any harm when using this method.
If there is any worry for a chance of harm, we offer a retail product called "Elleeplex Aftercare Formula", enriched with proteins, amino acids, and vitamin complex ingredients. Used on brows, beards, lashes formulated to help results of tints and lifts to last longer, as well as restoring proteins, speed up cell generation, and increases potassium channels to increase moisture levels to the hair.
We can only curl what we have to work with. If there are any questions or concerns with the integrity of your natural lashes we will be happy to take a look and suggest the best option for you. Feel free to give us a call to schedule a quick 15 minute consult with one of our lash artists.
Results may vary depending on your lashes and the type of lash lift chosen. With proper care and the use of our "Elleeplex Aftercare Formula" you may be able to extend the life of your lash lift longer. Typically Lash Lifts will last between 6 to 8 weeks as our lashes go through a normal growth cycle.
- Over the first 24-48 hours:
- Be gentle with your lashes, no rubbing.
- Do not get your lashes wet for the first 24 hours.
- Do not use harsh products on your eyes/lashes.
- Use of Sauna/Steam may weaken the effect of the lift.
- No eye makeup for 24 hours.
- Swimming should be avoided for 24 hours.
- No other facial beauty treatments for 24 hours.
- Aftercare after the 48 hour mark:
- refrain from all attempts to rub the eyes or lashes.
